Technical Consultant, Network Solutions

The Network Engineer’s role will be to perform duties associated with the architecture and implementation of network projects. This candidate will take the project, as designed in the SOW, and be able to successfully implement the hardware and/or software required. Additionally, the Network Engineer will have the opportunity to work directly with our client base to offer value-added services on an on-going basis. It is important the individual will be a team player, working with Architects and other Engineers from the team, and be able to handle working in very diverse client environments.

What you’ll do:

  • Must be able to deliver successful implementations as described in SOW’s within the set timeline
  • Will perform tasks primarily as a post-sale implementation engineer
  • Collaborate with end users and senior management, both internally and externally, to define business requirements for complex systems implementation for all infrastructure plans
  • Provide architectural consulting expertise to clients and make recommendation to clients on implementation plans and be able to identify other areas that may need to be addressed
  • Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing network architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio
  • Attend vendor training classes and obtain new certifications and/or keep certifications current
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility
  • Interact with project team members for a successful implementation of the architectural design
  • Define and document the system architecture
  • Recommend, document, advocate and enforce industry best practices to the client
  • Understand and communicate cost-benefit analysis and associated risks relating to system architecture integrity, sustainability and manageability
  • Support other engineers and clients with questions by participating in problem resolution activities


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with complex, high-performance networks with many sites (data centers and/or branch locations) that require high availability
  • Network operational support experience required
  • Experience with configuring, implementing and troubleshooting networking equipment such as Cisco Routers and switches, Juniper Routers and Switches,
  • Experience implementing WAN environments including point to point and MPLS circuits
  • Experience with Routing Protocols OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is required
  • Experience with HSRP, Radius, Tacacs+ and SNMP
  • Understanding in network and systems security
  • Experience working with PCI, HIPAA compliance highly desirable
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies, vendors and keep up with the latest technology
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills
  • Must be able to interact with customers, of all skill and executive levels
  • Ability to present ideas to both technical and non-technical skill levels

Nice to have:

  • Vendor Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIE
  • Experience administering and deploying network firewalls a plus
  • Familiarity with WLAN topology
  • Familiar with PCI and other security compliance standards
  • Previous consultative experience
