3000 SERIES
Hybrid Computing on VXS

FastCluster 3000 SERIES hybrid computing solutions integrate the Freescale 8641D Multicore general purpose processor (GPP), Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA and Myricom’s 10-Gigabit Ethernet Myri-10G clustering technology on a VXS platform to deliver optimal balance between overall system performance, interoperability, and flexibility. These systems are targeted at high performance DOD applications where space, power, weight and cooling is at a premium.

The 3000 SERIES includes:

This robust development platform delivers an efficient solution for engineers to start prototyping their FPGA applications targeted for deployment on the FastCluster XL-Gate architecture. Leveraging the Virtex-5 FPGA technology the XL-Gate is a reconfigurable payload ideally suited for radar, sonar, and surveillance signal processing.

FastCluster 3000 SERIES systems are available in air-cooled and SprayCool® versions, to be followed by enhanced MIL-SPEC rugged VPX platforms with VITA 46/48 packaging.

The FastCluster 3000 SERIES Software provides an integrated and flexible development and run-time environment enabling users to quickly integrate complex applications on their embedded cluster.

The 3000 SERIES Software implements an open architecture based upon industry standard layered components. This approach promotes productivity and code reuse at the application layer by leveraging the best currently available Development Tools, Run Time Libraries and standard API's to develop embedded real-time applications.

Several options are offered to address a wide variety of requirements including:
  • the Annapolis CoreFire Development Suite for Xilinx FPGA,
  • WindRiver's Workbench open device software development suite
for VxWorks and Linux (for the PowerPC with AltiVec),
  • VSIPL object oriented middleware,
  • and MPICH-MX over Myri-10G clustering fabric.
