CSPI Boosts Performance of FPDP Connection with Introduction of 2812/FPDP MultiComputer

BILLERICA, Massachusetts, January 23, 2002- CSP Inc. (NASDAQ: CSPI) MultiComputer Division, a leading supplier of high-performance cluster computing systems, today announced that the 2812/FPDP MultiComputer is available for customer shipment. Leveraging the strengths of the previous generation product and incorporating enhanced technology, the new 32-bit synchronous Front Panel Data Port MultiComputer delivers a sustained data transfer rate of 160 MB/sec for the most demanding digital signal processing environments.

The primary function of the cost effective 2812/FPDP MultiComputer is to provide flexibility, low latency and high performance I/O processing for large data acquisition applications. Designed in accordance with the high-performance data transfer standard (ANSI/VITA17-1999) the 2812/FPDP MultiComputer features a high bandwidth, dedicated I/O channel provided by the front panel data port, the computational speed of the MPC7400™ PowerPC processor and gigabit-per-second communication via the Myrinet-2000™ scalable cluster interconnect. The 2812/FPDP is ideally suited for applications, such as RADAR and SONAR, that require the rapid import of large volumes of data for real-time pre-processing and computational analysis prior to transmission to other systems.

"This second generation interface provides an efficient bridge between FPDP based I/O subsystems and our Myrinet based clustered MultiComputers" stated William Bent, Jr., General Manager and Vice President of CSPI MultiComputer Division. Easy to configure and implement, the 2812/FPDP MultiComputer offers a high-performance, cost-effective solution to the challenges presented by real-time data transfer requirements in embedded signal processing systems. "This is another example of CSPI embracing open standard interfaces to create high performance system building blocks for our customers."added Bent.
